First 40 Debut Reception at Verve Cup 2010

On Thursday evening, the docks were full as the Lake Michigan sailing community got its FIRST look at the Farr designed First 40. Attendees were able to tour the boat and see what the buzz is all about. The NEW First 40 follows in the tradition of her predecessors the popular First 40.7 and the very successful First 36.7 both designs have very strong followings in the Lake Michigan fleets. Interested sailors were able to view the First 40 all weekend long in Slip 1 at the club. Attendees were most impressed with the quality and value that she packs compared to other entries in the size range. "That's ALOT of boat for the money" exclaimed one guest. "Fully equipped with sails she is $150,000 less than other brands in the 36.5 ft size!" commented another sailor.
From CYC she will head up to Waukegan for the Lake Michigan Sailboat Show August 27-29 so if you missed her visit us up north or set up an appointment to see her when she returns to Burnham harbor.
The First 40 has set a new trajectory of it's own in winning the Rolex Sydney Hobart in December 2009. She has won accolades from the sailing press namely SAILING WORLD magazine when she was named 'Best Crossover' in their annual boat of the year reviews.
